| View in browser Newsletter September 2026 A Great Discovery is Just the Beginning  by Ariella Bersan SPARK NS Senior Manager of Communications and Marketing   Advancing a therapeutic to patients is a long and costly road that requires knowledge and know-how rarely taught in academia. That's why we created the SPARK NS Learning Center, an online learning platform with drug development courses and content developed by experts for academic researchers. It's available at no cost, with options for learners at all levels. LEARN MORE AND REQUEST FREE ACCESS Hear from academic researchers using the Learning Center in the video below. Expert Content Standards Born From Scandals Help Ensure Reliable Drug Data   by Danielle Gerhard, PhD SPARK NS Scientific Writer and Editor A wave of scandals in the 1970s involving toxicology labs falsifying safety data forced regulators to create Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards that still guide how laboratories document, design, and validate preclinical studies. Dr. Haditsch earned her PhD in Neuroscience from ETH Zurich and completed postdoctoral research at Stanford University before moving into biotech, where her work has spanned Alzheimer’s disease, rare diseases, and neurodevelopmental disorders.    Throughout her career, Dr. Haditsch has collaborated with researchers, disease foundations, family offices, and clinical teams, bringing people and ideas together to find practical ways to keep complex projects moving forward. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, gardening, skiing, and long beach walks with her Goldendoodle in Half Moon Bay.   Dr. Haditsch’s scientific background, collaborative approach, and experience advancing complex research programs will help support SPARK NS’s mission to move promising neuroscience discoveries from the lab toward the clinic.     Spotlight Celebrating 20 Years of Advancing Discoveries Toward Patients Daria Mochly-Rosen, PhD, SPARK NS Chief Science and Education Advisor; and Kevin Grimes, MD, MBA, SPARK NS Chief Clinical and Education Advisor      Congratulations to our colleagues, Daria Mochly-Rosen, PhD, and Kevin Grimes, MD, MBA, on 20 years of advancing translational research.   Dr. Mochly-Rosen and Dr. Grimes are Co-Directors of the SPARK at Stanford program and also serve as SPARK NS Chief Science and Education Advisor and Chief Clinical and Education Advisor, respectively.   Dr. Mochly-Rosen developed the SPARK model of translational research in 2006, which achieves an unprecedented 50+% success rate at advancing biomedical discoveries closer to patients and today serves as the foundation of translational research programs around the world, including SPARK at Stanford and our own SPARK NS program.   To Explore SPARK NS News + Insights   Gain access to high-quality expert content—offering fresh perspectives, practical guidance, and inspiration to think differently about drug development.     Visit News +Insights   About SPARK NS SPARK NS is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to efficiently advancing promising academic discoveries in neuroscience from the lab to the clinic.
